This is a strip or string pieced quilt I made during a very difficult and stressful time. The only thing that kept me feeling grounded was sewing the colorful strips of fabric onto the paper foundations. I made dozens of them and when I began piecing them together I thought, "That looks like the old fashioned Crazy Quilts." And then I realized, "No! This is my SANITY QUILT!" Thus the quilt's title - and my continued use of quilting to keep myself grounded and sane through good times and not so good times.
I am a 46 year old, married, stay-at-home "older" mom to a rambunctious, brilliant, special needs, 8 year old little girl. We are homeschooling. I am a Master's degree student in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. My sister and I own Stitching It Together, a custom sewing and quilting service.
I am a serious book addict and serious quilting addict. I am a Chapter Coordinator for Project Linus, an organization that makes handmade blankets and quilts for ill or traumatized children.
